The price of your new spectacles is determined by two key components: the frame and the lenses. Several factors influence the final cost, and we understand that navigating these choices can sometimes feel overwhelming. At El-Roi, we're here to guide you every step of the way.
Frame Costs:
Frames come in a variety of styles, materials, and brands, each with its own price point. Your personal preference, desired durability, and aesthetic choices will all play a role in selecting the perfect frame for you.
Lens Costs:
Lenses also vary significantly in price due to several factors:
Lens Type: Different lens types cater to different needs (single vision, bifocal, progressive, etc.), each with its own associated cost.
Prescription Complexity: The complexity of your prescription can impact the lens price. Some prescriptions require more intricate manufacturing processes, which can affect the final cost.

Adults: Changes in vision often become more gradual with age.
Your Eye Health:
If you have underlying eye conditions like glaucoma or diabetes, more frequent eye exams and prescription updates may be necessary.
Your Lifestyle:
Increased screen time or changes in your work environment can impact your vision.
Your Prescription:
Significant changes in your prescription may require more frequent updates.
General Recommendations:
Adults (18-64 years old):
Typically recommended to have an eye exam every two years.
More frequent exams may be necessary if you have risk factors for eye disease or experience changes in vision.
Adults 65 and older:
Recommended to have an eye exam annually.
Children:
Frequent eye exams are crucial for children, especially during their developmental years.
The frequency of exams will vary depending on the child's age and any identified vision problems.
Signs You May Need New Glasses:
Blurred vision: Even when wearing your glasses.
Eye strain or headaches: Especially when reading or working on the computer.
Difficulty seeing at night:
Squinting or tilting your head to see clearly.
Double vision.
Changes in your depth perception.
The cost of eye care can vary significantly depending on several factors, including:
Type of eye care:
Routine eye exam: This is the most common type of eye exam, used to check for vision problems and eye diseases.
Specialized exams: Exams for specific conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy may cost more.
Insurance coverage:
Vision insurance: Many employers offer vision insurance plans that cover a portion of the cost of eye exams and eyeglasses.
Health insurance: Some health insurance plans may also cover certain eye care services.
Other factors:
The type of lenses you choose (e.g., single vision, bifocal, progressive)
The materials used for your eyeglasses (e.g., plastic, metal, high-index)
Any additional tests or procedures that may be necessary

At El-Roi, we understand that choosing the right lenses for your glasses can feel overwhelming with so many options available. Your age, lifestyle, and personal preferences all play a role in determining the best fit for your vision. Our expert staff is here to guide you through the process and help you make an informed decision. Here's a brief overview of the different lens types and coatings we offer:
Lens Types:
Single Vision Lenses: These lenses correct for one vision problem, whether it's nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism. They provide clear vision at a single distance.
Bifocal/Trifocal Lenses: Designed for individuals who need correction for both near and far vision, these lenses feature distinct segments for each focal distance. Bifocals have two distinct viewing areas, while trifocals add an intermediate zone for middle-distance vision.
Progressive Lenses: These advanced lenses offer a seamless transition between near, intermediate, and distance vision, eliminating the lines associated with bifocals and trifocals. They provide a more natural and comfortable viewing experience.
High-Index Lenses: For those with higher prescriptions, high-index lenses offer a thinner and lighter alternative to traditional lenses. They provide the same corrective power with increased comfort and aesthetic appeal.
Lens Coatings:
Enhance your lenses with specialized coatings that provide additional benefits:
Anti-reflective (AR) Coating: Reduces glare from artificial light sources and reflections, improving visual clarity and reducing eye strain, especially during nighttime driving and computer use.
UV Protection: Shields your eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, protecting your long-term eye health. This is a crucial coating for everyone, regardless of prescription.
Scratch-resistant Coating: Increases the durability of your lenses, protecting them from everyday wear and tear and extending their lifespan.
Blue Light Blocking Coating: Filters out a portion of the harmful blue light emitted from digital devices, reducing eye strain, headaches, and potential sleep disruptions associated with prolonged screen time.
Our team at El-Roi will work closely with you to determine which lens type and combination of coatings best suits your individual needs and lifestyle. We'll take the time to answer your questions and ensure you're completely comfortable with your choices. Your clear vision and satisfaction are our priorities.
