Rosina Osei Boateng receiving the Imperial Eye Care Centre 2025 Best Researcher Award during the KNUST graduation ceremony on November 20, 2025.
KUMASI, GHANA — On November 20, 2025, the El-Roi Group, through its flagship clinical entity Imperial Eye Care Centre, reaffirmed its commitment to clinical excellence and academic innovation by presenting the 2025 Best Researcher Award to Rosina Osei Boateng.
The award, presented during the congregation of the Doctor of Optometry class at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), recognizes the student who has demonstrated the most significant contribution to optometric research. Rosina now joins an elite roster of clinicians who have received this recognition since the award's inception in 2020.
At the heart of this initiative is a core conviction held by the El-Roi Group and its affiliates, Indigo Eye Care and Eye-Cann Optical: that the future of healthcare on the continent must be built on a foundation of local data.
"Developing the capacity for Africans to conduct research on and for Africans is essential to bridging the global knowledge gap," stated a representative for the group. "By empowering clinicians to lead scientific inquiry, we ensure that patient care and clinical outcomes are informed by data that reflects our unique local context."
The El-Roi Group continues to bridge the gap between private sector operations and academic rigor. This year’s ceremony was a celebration of the continued partnership with the KNUST Department of Optometry. We extend our deepest appreciation to:
Prof. Mohammed Abdul-Kabir, Head of Department (HOD) of Optometry.
Dr. Kwadwo Owusu Akuffo (OD, PhD, FAAO).
David Ben Kumah and the dedicated faculty staff.
Their tireless work in training the next generation of eye care professionals ensures that the standards of practice in Ghana—and across Africa—continue to rise.
As part of our broader mission, the El-Roi Group integrates social impact delivery into our operational and financial frameworks. By supporting research excellence, we are investing in the long-term sustainability of the healthcare sector.
We congratulate Rosina Osei Boateng and all previous award winners as they continue to expand the knowledge base of our profession and improve patient lives through evidence-based care.
